The Hope Valley campground is usually quiet and not as popular as the PG&E campgrounds at the upper end of the valley. The campground is small and there are some campsites that have reasonably sized driveways. However, some sites have very tight and difficult to access driveways for a larger RV or trailer; so choose carefully. The river is easily accessed from the campground. Camp host was friendly and attentive to camper needs.

Small campground of 20 spaces. Excellent condition, campground host keeps it very clean. Quiet - noisy children, but's that's to be expected. Beautiful meadow with abundant wildflowers in late June.

Lovely campground with personable host. Very clean and quiet (although we were there during the week and early in season) - don't know if that's always the case. Excellent hiking opportunities nearby. Sites offer a relative amount of privacy. Be prepared for mosquitoes and lots of pine pollen early in the season but overall a great experience.

This was our first stay at Hope Valley Campground, and overall we had a good experience. The campground is well-shaded, felt safe, and is conveniently located near plenty of outdoor recreation opportunities.
The main reason I’m giving it 3 stars instead of 5 is that our campsite was surrounded by RV and trailer campers. I personally prefer tent-only areas and a more traditional camping atmosphere. There are tent sites available, but as first time visitors, I wasn’t familiar enough with the campground layout to choose one.
I also generally prefer dispersed camping over established campgrounds. However, for this trip, we chose Hope Valley because my wife preferred having access to a vault toilet, which this campground provides.
One of the biggest highlights was the West Fork of the Carson River, which is just across the road. I caught my first river trout there—a memorable experience since I normally fish lakes and ponds. Lower and Upper Blue Lakes are also nearby, although both were closed when we arrived. Lower Blue Lake reopened the following day, and we were able to fish there as well. There are also several other lakes in the area, making this a great destination for anglers.
Overall, Hope Valley is a beautiful campground in a great location, especially for fishing and exploring the surrounding mountains. I would consider returning, but next time I would try to select a tent-only site if available.

I love this campground and the surrounding area. I would have given 5 stars if we were not subjected to some folks blasting country music while their children ran around shrieking at the top of their lungs. Overall the 3 nights spent there were pleasant and the hiking and 4 wheeling were incredible. I will be back.

We camp often, and we found that this campground has the most amenities. It has excellent Bear Lockers for storage, a raised platform for your BBQ grill, and even a separate stand-alone BBQ grill of its own. Each site has a flat and well-prepared space for tents, and there are a few double-sites for larger groups. The only downside is the pit toilets, but at least they are clean and reasonably un-smelly. Remember to bring a screened-in pop-up in the Springtime, as the mosquitoes are swarming and hungry.

Such a beautiful place. And the camp host David is very helpful and very easy to approach.
Only thing I miss is I wish they planted more fish . Back when I was a kid there were plenty of fish all up and down the stream. I been coming here for over 50 years.

Nice campground, fairly quiet, and at least our site was nicely separated from neighbors. The river across the road is a beautiful place to walk along, dip into, or hang out by. Our camp host was great, and made frequent rounds throughout the campground. Thumbs Up!

Great campsite. Had campsite 18. Which was a double, room for 12 people. But only had two spaces for tents. Assuming six people are gonna cram into each tent. We had six people total at our site. I just like to get a larger site to have more room. Site was nice and well-maintained, although it was right next to the road. In the middle of the night there were cars driving on the road and people partying across the street at the river. Next time I will get a different site. Bathrooms were very clean as most people had trailers and probably not using them! This was also Memorial Day weekend so temperatures were cold at night! River was great for fishing and lots of hiking nearby

This is a nice campground. The bathrooms are clean, and the camp host was friendly and helpful. We were there in mid-May, and there was still water around the campground from the snow melt, so when it warmed up, the mosquitoes came out. After it cooled down in the evening, it was fine. I recommend this campground.

I like this campground because it is a little out of the way from the main road. It is small in the amount of camp sites. Each site is well planned with a designated tent area, bear box, stove and barbeque stands and a fire pit. Water and vault toilets are well maintained by the camp host. There is hiking or walking from camp with enjoyable views.

This is a lovely, quiet campground. There is nice, easy access to the river from right across the road from the campground and other fun things to do nearby. The host was great and we hope to come back. This is a littl gem just off the beaten path from all the craziness of the Lake Tahoe basin campgrounds.

Stunningly beautiful area and still green in August thanks to this year's record precipitation. Excellent trout fishing right across the road from camp - we caught our bag limit every day. The campsite is clean and well-kept, although the sites are rather small and. close together. They even have level concrete pads for tents, something I'd never seen before. Camp hosts were helpful and friendly. The double sites look great for a larger group. Hope Valley is so pretty and is one of the best campsites I've ever been to!

Great scenic location with nearby hiking and fishing. Friendly campground hosts from Mesa, AZ. Clean campsites, campfire pits, and toilets. Easy parking for travel trailers in about ten sites in lower loop of campground. RVs not advised for upper loop, as the parking pads are either too short, too sloped, or both.
Will come back again.
