We love coming camping up here at Hilltop and try to do it at least once a year!! They did a bunch of much-needed upgrades to the pads, roads, bathrooms, etc a few years back, and it has made a world of difference (there used to be a ton of flooding each time it rained, but not anymore). I’ve also been really impressed with how often they clean the bathrooms. I mean, they are still glorified porta-potties, but overall, they seem to really try to keep them as nice as possible. We absolutely love it here!

Campsite was extremely clean and well maintained. Especially the restrooms. I think this was the first time I’ve used park service restrooms and not gagged from the smell. The view from site 11 was incredible, especially around sunset!

The camp host was great. He protected my reserved spot, introduced himself and gave me information about events in the area. The bathrooms were clean and had toilet paper. Actually, the whole campground was clean.

This was my first experience camping. It was vice nice. The campsite was clean and ready for use. The host was helpful. The Campground overall was very nice. The sunsets and nightime were incredible. The restrooms were kept clean even after some folks who used them were not respectful. It was quite surprised how much trash was in most of the trash bins after a weekend. Overall I liked and would stay there again. I would only add that folks need to respect the quiet hours because there were some who were talking till 2 am.

Love love love Hilltop! We have a 23ft trailer and have enjoyed Spot 11 over the years. Spot 22 looks like it would be a great spot for a trailer too. Spot 9 is awesome but you have to go the wrong direction to park a trailer in it! Will return every summer!

Amazing setting w awesome views! Camp Host was helpful and very friendly. Small campground that is best suited for tents and small campers/trailers. Quiet at night and so much cooler temperatures than Las Vegas in the summer. Be aware that while there are plenty of restrooms there is no water

25. Great site. Amenities include grill, Picnic table, fire pit, tent pad, drive way. Bathrooms were clean. Bundles of firewood for $20. T-Moble 4G LTE signal was great. Was able to stream netflix and YouTube no problem. Watched the New York Knicks clinch Game 5 and win the championship. Bring canopy for shade.

Nice camp grounds. This #31 site is a close walk to the (non plumbing) restrooms and dumpsters. Can still hear neighboring campsites decently. Would say the campsite can fit 1-2 four person tents on the paved spot.

This campground looks brand new! It was easy to find our campsite and the bathrooms were super clean. I was a little nervous because a previous reviewer said someone took their campsite and there was no ranger available to report it too. However our campsite was clearly labeled with who had reserved the campsite for the next three nights. Also a ranger stopped by to verify that we the correct people to be occupying the campsite. The other thing that is nice about this campground is that half of the sites can be reserved ahead of time and the other half are first come first serve.

We stayed at site #11. The good: Great views off the ridge! Hiking trail right off of site #9 with more amazing views! The bad: No privacy from sites #9 and #10. They look down on you, with no trees between. Your tent will be right next to site #10's tent. I mean close enough to be able to smell their cologne or lack of deoderant, and you will be able to hear most of the average-volume conversations that your neighbors are having. Luckily for us, all three FCFS lookie-loos to check out site #10 decided it was too close for comfort and moved on. If someone had stayed next to us, the experience would have dropped down to 2 or 3 stars (1 star if they came with kids, dogs, music, and/or alcohol, which is very likely). Unless you have friends or family at site #10, I can't imagine anyone happy with this close proximity. No electricity or water. Limited to no cell service, depending on your carrier. These weren't problems for us, but they should be noted. Vault toilets with highly offensive odors that attract a lot of flies. Feces is visible on inside tube of toilet. I didn't see anyone actually use them, so I imagine many tent campers are finding it quicker, healthier, and more pleasant to relieve themselves in the woods. The vault toilet that is closest to site #11 sits between sites #13 and #14. Those sites have great views as well, but... the vault toilet will be your neighbor. Conclusion: I think this campground experience could vary widely depending on your site, needs, and expectations. The view at our site was the highlight of our stay and made it 4-star worthy, but we were fortunate to have no immediate neighbors. There were some sites that looked more private further around the loop.

Love hilltop campground as my family has stayed there many times. This time was less than perfect because a group of folks were using our site to “picnic” when we arrived and I had to inform them about the reservation system and what the red and white reservation tag on the site marker meant. The group only took about 45 minutes to pack up their stuff so that we could assume the site, so t the hat worked out ok.

an amazing location we chose campground spot 35 which is at the very end of the loop and I definitely recommend it very private. One of the best parts about it is the fact that we could walk down and just go explore. We don’t really have to like follow a trail and we also saw a coyote. The views are insane. Definitely will be coming back this time with friends.

When we arrived at our spot, someone had occupied it. We saw there was a tag on the post showing our reservation. They claimed they didn’t see it but it turned confrontational and we had to ask them to leave. There should be a better way to mark that a spot is reserved that is visible even when it’s dark.

We were absolutely terrified from a howling coyote in heat that came into our campsite at night. Also, the treacherous stairs and hilly climb to the bathroom make most sites impossible for me. Otherwise it was a lovely experience.

Quiet campsite, great views. No shade so be prepared to bring an easy up canopy with you if you want to get out of the heat or rain. Nice firepits and tent pads. My only negative comment would be about the gross bathrooms. We all know that pit toilets are less desirable, but these had to have been one of the worst I was to use. They haven't cleaned the bathroom in months. We even ran out of toilet paper because there was a small amount to begin with when we checked in. There was no camp host on site, so no one to let know to refill the bathroom.
