Angel Creek (Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, NV)
Overview
Angel Creek Campground is located on the grassy foothills of the East Humboldt Mountain Range, just eight miles southwest of Wells, Nev. It sits at an elevation of 6,200 feet. Visitors enjoy making the short drive to Angel Lake for canoeing and fishing.Recreation
Beautiful Angel Lake is just four miles from the campground, offering great canoeing and fishing for rainbow and brook trout.
Smith Lake Trail begins at the entrance to Angel Lake Campground, with a designated day use parking area for the trail before entering the campground.
A variety of wildlife, including bighorn sheep, mountain goats, deer and birds of prey, make its home around the lake, creating good viewing opportunities for visitors to the area.
Facilities
The campground provides vault toilets and drinking water. Each campsite contains a picnic table and combination campfire ring with grill. Most sites have tent pads. Firewood is available for purchase from the host.
Trash collection is available during peak season.
The tent only group camping area can accommodate up to 30 people and six tents. There is parking for six vehicles. The site contains picnic tables, a group fire ring and family grill. The site is handicap accessible. If not reserved, the site can be used on a first-come, first-served basis for group camping or day use picnics.
Campground is open on a first come first serve basis after peak season, without trash collection and drinking water. Please bring what you need, and pack it in, pack it out. Off season campground use is weather dependent. Please call the local district office for current status.

The campground is situated among mature aspens, which offer partial shade and beautiful fall color. Wildflowers dot the area during the summer months.Camp site features

Directions
Take Interstate 80 to the West Wells exit. Turn south on Angel Lake Road
(State Route 231) and travel 8 miles to Angel Creek. Turn left and follow the
road for one mile to the campground.
Stay Limit
Check in from 2 PM, check out by 12 PM.

Got to my campsite just before sunset (in the middle of July), by which time it had cooled down enough to be comfortable. The mountains to the west provide shade in the evening, but it warms up quickly in the morning. The campsite was great, the only downside was people at the group site had music playing loudly until late (I guess 10pm is the quiet time, so they were observing the rules, still it was annoying).

I keep coming back. The weather is sort of hit or miss this time of year, but we got lucky. Nice campground. Clean amenities. No cows. Someone must have fixed the fence. Lots of great birding just around the campground.

We have camped several times at Angel Creek and found that we especially love it. The water, the clean toilets, and the pleasant sites despite some drought affected aspen make this a great place to camp.

Lovely campground but I think open fires should be banned. Even though the grasses were cut in the site, there is still great potential for the dry grasses surrounding the campsite to catch on fire easily.

The camp and restrooms were clean and centrally located to our campsite…. We really enjoyed our time there and will be returning soon…. We’ve even picked out a couple more campsites that are more shaded by trees for next time because I don’t do well in the sun

Clean site. We filled water bags at the pump. Drove up to the lake which was amazing- gorgeous. Site was on the small side but plenty enough for us.

Great to have a camp host. Had not seen that before. Sites are not too close together and most have trees surrounding each site. Loved aspens with many birds surrounding the campsites. Vault toilets were well-maintained and there is potable water available. No trails right at the campsite, but plenty close-by.

This is a nice campground in a beautiful area with wonderful views. It is a very peaceful place. I enjoyed watching birds from my site. There is good water and the outhouse was well kept. My only complaint is that the grass and weeds were not controlled around the grill, picnic table and tent area. Regardless, I am looking forward to staying there again.

We enjoyed the low key vibe of this campground on our way to the west coast so much that we stayed again on our way home. Campsites were good sized and spread out so privacy was insured. Nice quiet nights fairly convenient to the interstate.

I’ve stayed here many times and it has always been pleasant. Bathrooms were atrocious on this visit. Camp host didn’t seem to do much besides walk around smoking cigarettes.

We got there on Sunday of Labor Day weekend and had reserved our favorite spot. When we arrived, there was someone in our campsite. The person in our site said he had already paid for 3 nights and wasn't moving. No camp host anywhere to be located and no campers had seen the host 'for days'.

Most sites difficult for larger trailers such as our 30' TT.

The campground is very easy to get to. It had a camp host. The campsite had plenty of room for our truck and 20 foot trailer. The views from here are spectacular of the valley below and the road to the top is stunning.

Very quiet. camp host did not do his job. firepit was full. Bbq was full. Bathrooms were filthy. He would drive to bathrooms and sit in his Mule for 10 or so minutes and drive away.

Campground could use some updates and maintenance. The sites have foot-tall dried grass all around that would seem to be an unnecessary fire risk. Picnic tables are old wood with peeling paint. Ours (site 14) had axe marks all over one of the benches. Fire rings were good, but needed to be emptied of old ashes. Camp host was seldom around, and our when we arrived he had to be summoned because there was a walk-up camped in our friend's reserved site because it was not marked reserved. Sites are small, but pretty level. We saw a lot of bird-life - we put up a hummingbird feeder and it was swarming with them before we left. Saw a Western Tanager, Western Kingbirds, flocks of Nighthawks, several red-tails and kestrels. Even had two turkeys wander through. Despite the cons, it was a decent experience and the location is good if you don't want to take your trailer up the road to the lake where the sites are ridiculously small.

Great close in campsite. Although it’s easy to be close in yet in the middle of nowhere in Nevada. It was nice to see. They not only had a picnic table, but a barbecue and a fire pit.

This is a beautiful location and absolutely unexpected in this part of Nevada. We have enjoyed it in the past; it makes a great first night’s stop on a cross country road trip from California. On our most recent visit last week though, the outhouses did not seem to have been cleaned recently, and even more annoying, a neighboring campsite ran a generator ALL NIGHT. I was surprised the camp host didn’t do anything about this. We’re staying at Angel Creek again on our way home next week and I’m hoping we’ll get a better night’s sleep!

We had a nice stay at Angel creek. Not our first visit - we keep coming back. The fence is still broken and there is a herd of cows with a toy-bull that wanders in. The bull is a little scary as he does not shoo. Aside from that, which is minor the campground is functional. Toilets and water spigots in working order.

Enjoyed the campground but there are cattle grazing around the campground which was a concern keeping them outside the campsite. So it smells like your at the ranch.

Beautiful, secluded campsite, several miles off the highway. Views, flowers, aspens, nice little sites. Friendly campground manager who was still around when we rolled in around 7pm. No electric and water was down when we were there, but we came prepared. Basic, clean pit toilets.

Beautiful campground, with amazing views, privacy,plentiful water, and clean toilets. We had reserved a campsite in advance and when we arrived at dark, it was easy to navigate the campground to our site. Would highly recommend. P.S. We were there in early July and the mosquitos were plentiful!

Good hosts and no problem with reservation. One of our favorite areas! Too bad the Angel Lake road was closed, but that's not the Forest Service's fault.

This campground is beautiful and peaceful. There is hiking nearby. The camp hosts are so friendly, kind and helpful!! We’ve camped there twice in the past few years and hope to be back again!

Beautiful campground in Ruby Mountain Range. The birdsong in our site was lovely. We listen to and spotted Indigo Buntings, Yellow Warblers, and Robins. There was an accipiter we couldn't identify.
Our site was quite private. The vault toilet was very clean. Water was good tasting.

The gentleman that was the camp host did a great job of keeping the place clean. The bathrooms were the cleanest I had ever experienced and the addition of the room freshener great idea.

We have always loved camping at Angel Creek Campground. My family and I have come here for years. The views are incredible and it is absolutely serene. This campground is more spacious with more room between neighbors as opposed to Angel Lake Campground.

Other than Google taking us off the wrong exit (thankfully someone has a sign telling you where to go) this site was great. The drive back and the views were incredible and the cows are wonderful little bonus. Ample spacing between the sites to top everything off.

This is a gorgeous campground. I visited, towing my 13’ travel trailer, accompanied by my daughter who stayed in a tent. We reserved our site and settled in quickly. The pit toilet was clean, and fresh water was available. The view from the site was glorious, and we had a lovely walk. We visited in early June and the temperature was mild. There is no shade on the majority of the sites, so summer camping might be brutal. Sites 17 & 18 are in the trees a bit, so may provide some shade. I highly recommend this campground.

Got to the campsite at 8:00pm for my reservation. The campsite I reserved was occupied (there was no reserve sign posted and they had their own name and dates listed). Campground host would not assist after 7:30pm and would not return my voicemail or text. It’s been 2 days and they still never helped. I ended up having to travel somewhere else to find a last minute hotel instead. Extremely stressful to travel 14 hours to stay here and it just being unavailable and no assistance provided.
