Silesca Guard Station

Silesca Guard Station is an original Ranger Station that once housed Forest work crews. The historic Silesca Cabin is located on the Uncompahgre Plateau in a beautiful meadow surrounded by aspen and spruce/fir forests. The Plateau itself is a long, narrow geologic uplift bordered on the east by the wide valleys of the Gunnison and Uncompahgre Rivers and on the west by the narrow gorges of the Dolores and San Miguel Rivers. The Plateau contains federal, state, and private lands with 545,907 of National Forest. The cabin is located 40 minutes southwest of the city of Montrose and is set back 100 feet from the main road, offering some privacy. The Silesca Cabin is a great destination for a weekend getaway or a week-long hunting trip. This rustic facility will accommodate up to six guests. Amenities include three bedrooms with six twin beds, one bathroom with a shower and flush toilet, an electric stove and refrigerator, a wood-burning stove, and a fire ring and picnic table outside. A small barn is available for short-term storage of ATV's, bicycles, or other equipment. Electricity and running water (non-potable) are available. Limited cooking utensils, dishware, and cleaning supplies are provided. There is no trash collection service, Pack-It-In, Pack-It-Out.
