Flat Rock Creek

Overview

Flat Rock Creek is located on the east shore of Flat Rock Bay on Fort Gibson Lake In northeastern Oklahoma. The park offers a chance to view spectacular sunsets. Even though this campground is a little off the beaten path, it has a strong and loyal following. Campers love the remote setting and family friendly atmosphere.

Recreation

The nearly 20,000-acre lake offers great boating and swimming opportunities. Anglers enjoy fishing for black bass, white bass, crappie and several varieties of catfish and panfish. The lake's 225 miles of shoreline are home to thousands of acres of public hunting lands, where white-tailed deer, turkey, mourning dove, duck, geese, cottontail rabbit and squirrel roam.

Facilities

This seasonal campground offers 30 family sites and one group day-use picnic shelter, all with electric hookups. An additional site without hookups is available on a first come, first served basis. Visitors can enjoy all the facilites year round.

Amenities include flush and pit toilets, drinking water, showers, a dump station and boat ramp.

Natural Features

An oak-hickory woodland covers the rolling hills of the region. The protected shallow cove provides an ideal location for kayaks and canoes.

Nearby Attractions

Chouteau has a rich Amish culture, so grab a meal at the Dutch Pantry or pick up many Amish products and baked items at The Amish Cheese House and Nettie Ann's Bakery. Chouteau also hosts Black Buggy Days annually in September.

Wagoner was known as the "Queen City of the Prairie", and the locals value their historic downtown and rich railroad history. It is also home to the Bluegrass and Chili Festival, Summerfest, Annual Tractor Pull, City-wide Christmas celebrations and lights, as well as, the Beats, Brews and BBQ.

Historic Fort Gibson, established in 1824, served as an important military post on the western frontier for close to 70 years. Now a National Historical Landmark, the site is open to the public year round. Volunteers reenact the lifestyle of the late 1800s during various events held throughout the year. A reconstructed log stockade, and original barracks, hospital, bakehouse and other structures still stand today.

The concrete pad may be wet. Also, when they say they close the gate at 10 PM, they really do so make sure to be in for the night. You're going to enjoy this campground :)

This was the first time I have stayed at this campground and was very happy with my campsite. It was level and very clean when I arrived. I think all of the sites have a view of the lake and most have plenty of shade. The campground was quiet and the restrooms were clean. I will definitely be back. I stayed in site 13 and think it might be the best site in the campground.

This park is well run and clean. The sites are tidy and function well even when there is heavy rain. The campground host is friendly and quick to get around to help quests. I like the quietness and peacefulness during the middle of the week.

Great place to stay with most spots close to the water. Be sure to look at the trees, several are dead and need to be removed prior to falling over and causing damages to campers, boats, pickups or people.

Our camping experience was very good. The park was clean, quiet, mowed and very well kept. Upon arrival we discovered that the 30 amp plug end on the electrical box was non-working, we contacted volunteer Henry, and he called the office, and a technician was sent out immediately, in the mean while volunteer Lenny brought us an adapter for the 50 amp so that we could finish getting set up. The volunteers are helpful and friendly. We are frequent campers at Flat Rock Creek and have never been disappointed.

Very beautiful property. Most of not all sites have great views of the lake. Sites are paved and curbed, have grills, tables, flat top grill/prep table and lantern poles at site. Plenty in the area to see & do. Host was very attentive and patient while we were uncoupling truck/camper. Restroom/shower house needs lots of attention. Certainly it is usable but needs updated soon. Either way, this location is on our "return to list".

Beautiful, well kept campground. It seems the vast majority of campsites had a good view of the lake. Met 1 of the Camp Hosts who was very friendly. The only opportunity for improvement that we experienced was the camp host locked the entrance gate prior to the published 10:00pm closing time. We will definitely camp here again!
