Great star gazing and hiking access. House is reasonably comfortable but poorly lit, bring headlamps if you want to read. No internet inside the house. Lots of level changes inside the house, watch your step!

Over all a very nice property. Clean, everything worked.
It does have A/C, btw, even though it's not listed...
The one bedroom with the queen bed is not exactly private, but you could do two couples with kids here, and have plenty of room if you figure out a way to close off the passthrough. Also, plan on cleaning when you first get there , as others have noted, there are mice. Only trapped one, but it was quite obviously on the counters.
Lots of deer using the water trough at the old corral makes for quiet mornings on the screened in porch watching them wander through.

We loved staying at the Shaw House! It is a home where the walls almost talk to you. It is rustic but very comfortable. The portable heaters helped since we didn't use the wood stove. I brought my own little space heater which we used in combination with the other heaters. Be sure to plug them into separate walls. We quit using the big heater in the living room because the cord became hot. The kitchen had everything we needed and the beds were comfy. One of the bottom beds in the room with bunk beds was broken, but I was still able to sleep on it. Also, be sure to keep all your food stored away. We put out a mouse trap when we left. None of these things bothered us because it was an old house, and we are used to camping. The Shaw House was super cozy, especially since the nights were cold and we had one day of snow. We are definitely looking in to renting another NFS house.

We love thee Shaw House ! Love all the wonderful upgrades they did. Would suggest you bring a heater as it got cold in living room! We had brought an extra heater and it was perfect. Love the views. Highly recommend staying here. It's just beautiful! Our family enjoyed games & hikes. Can wait to return!

Loved the cabin sad I will not return to it or the portal ccc house ...my dog is my family and I am always responsible when it comes to her. I loved the forest service for allowing my daughter to join me ...sorry for this loss
