Linder Point Campground

Overview

The Linder Point Campground is located within the Dam Complex at the Coralville Lake Project. The Coralville Lake Project is a multiple use project providing primary benefits in flood control and low flow augmentation, and secondary benefits in recreation, fish and wildlife management and forest management. Coralville Lake provides many recreational opportunities, including boating, camping, hiking, mountain biking, lake and river fishing, swimming, water skiing, picnicking and hunting.

Recreation

Visitors enjoy Coralville Lake for camping, boating, fishing, swimming and water activities. Anglers will find large and smallmouth bass, crappie, walleye and catfish. Several trails are within the Dam Complex, including Squire Point, Woodpecker Trail, Tailwater Riverwalk and barrier-free Veterans Trail. The Devonian Fossil Gorge is just below the dam, offering a unique opportunity to explore a 375-million-year old sea floor and discover fossil remains of sea life that once inhabited this tropical marine environment. Twenty discovery points can be found throughout the site along with a cell phone audio tour. The Turkey Creek Disc Golf Course is located in the Dam Complex and offers nine partially wooden and open holes.

Facilities

The Linder Point Campground offers 18 campsites to include full hook-up campsites, standard electric campsites, and non-electric campsites. Amenities include a modern restroom and shower facility. The campground fee booth is located at the West Overlook Campground and the dump station and drinking water is located just outside of the West Overlook Campground. The Linder Point Day Use Area offers picnic sites and access to the Woodpecker Nature Trail.

Natural Features

Coralville Lake is located in the Iowa River Valley, just north of Iowa City. The Linder Point Campground lies among a heavily wooded forest of mixed hardwood species on the west side of the dam. Wildlife is abundant throughout the project. Whitetail deer, turkeys, pheasants, waterfowl, song birds and other species roam the lands around the lake.

You need more spaces with water and sewer hook ups. Reserving 3 prime spots for emergency is crazy. When we were there 3RVs occupied #2-#3. Full hookups for several days. I think you should add more Full service spots if you reserve 3 out of 5

The park ranger was very helpful to us in allowing us to change spots. The one reserved would have put our front wheels off the ground due to the slope of the site. Thank you for helping us!!!!!

Beautiful place to camp! We reserved L7, and it was perfect for our 40 foot motorhome and we could park our SUV as well on the same lot. The camp was very well kept, and they have lots to do in this area. You can walk through the fossil beds, fish, hike, I’ll go into Coralville or Iowa city for many places to enjoy. We will definitely be back.

We had very loud neighbors that were arguing and yelling and I was up until 3am. I was not aware that there was not a park ranger on duty and we were to all the local sheriff office. Little sleep makes it not enjoyable.

Linderpoint is our favorite USACOE park in the Coralville area. It is a smaller and quieter campground, with a couple of fun walking trails. Nice new restrooms/showers in 2024. Easy access off Interstate 80.

Showed up to our campsite on Friday, May 11th and there was a camper parked there. Headed to the guard shack to find out that the park ranger moved someone to our RESERVED site because those peoples site had no power. The volunteer at the guard shack was nice and let us use her daughters camp site but it was not enjoyable at all. It was very loud. The weekend before we showed up and we had no power at our RESERVED site. I am over camping at Coralville damn for a while. Keep in mind the volunteers are GREAT but the running of the campground from New York is not a good idea. Best of luck if you have future reservations.

Gorgeous campground! We were in L14 and read the reviews saying it was hard to level their units. We had that problem when we first arrived, but figured it out. You just need more levelers! Yes, I agress the sight is not perfect, but it worked for us. We are looking forward to our next stay there. It was absolutely amazing!

The Linder Point Campground, a COE park in Iowa City, IA is a find. We used 41.7245, -91.5432 to get here. I add that information because this is a small satellite site to the main park, on which I can’t comment except to note that fellow campers report the dumpsite and manned check-in booth are there. The park where we’re staying has eight 50A FHU sites and nine (?) 50A and water sites, all reservable. L01-8 are FHU and sites 01, 04, 05, 06, 07, and 08 have line-of-site to the DISH satellite constellation (L01 looks a little iffy). All sites are back-in. Two separate parking areas if your toad doesn’t fit on your site. Some sites, but not all, have a picnic table and firepit. Great place!

Beautiful, well-maintained campground. Our spot was level with FHUs. I appreciated the shower house close by. The site was close to the road — so occasional road noise. Our Starlink worked well for Wi-Fi. We used this stop as a hub for a visit to Herbert Hoover NM & for geocaching. We would definitely return.
