Directions
From Tijeras: head southbound on Highway 337 and take a right on Highway 55 to travel through the town of Tajique. Take a right just past the Tajique cemetary onto Torreon Tajique Loop Rd and follow this road for approximately 7.3 miles, passing the Albuquerque Trailhead on your right, until you reach the Fourth of July campground.
From Manzano: head north on Highway 55 and take a left before the town of Tajique onto Torreon Tajique Loop Rd and follow this road for approximately 7.3 miles.

Beautiful campground! The campground was clean, the surroundings were beautiful, but there were a lot of flies. No host when we were there, but the bathrooms/grounds were clean and the sites looked well taken care of.

Fantastic, quiet and natural location. Be aware, wildlife is EVERYWHERE; deer, squirrels, and we heard reports of bears nearby. The road in was difficult, highly recommend something with good off-roading capabilities, with rain made some nasty, slick mud on the way in. There are plenty of trails, and the site is well maintained with forest rangers visiting often to check on the camps.

The particular camping space was #8. It kind of sits on a hill and balancing a small RV took the front-end levelling to a new height. The rest of the camp site was fine... bathrooms were clean... and unfortunately it rained most of the time. I'll come back, but probably not to that site.

This is a beautiful tree covered campground. It’s very quiet and the sites are large with plenty of room for tents.

This was a nice and clean campsite. It’s a bit of an off road drive to get to, but the roads were very passable even in a regular car.
The sites have metal fire rings, and some of the tables were in disrepair. There were many options for single campers, and several connected group sites towards the ends. I’m personally ok with families and kids staying further down the road so I don’t have to listen to them.
The toilets were vault, but were clean. There are no water facilities here. No cell phone reception either! There is easy trail access right from the campground.
I liked that this campground seemed more remote than others we had been to in the Manzanos. We didn’t hear any 4wheeler ATV types driving around and kicking up dust and noise. Will definitely come back.

Had the best experience there, one of the bathrooms was closed but the one that was open was super clean. Would definitely recommend.
