Camp Misty Mount brings together small groups, families and individuals for
rustic mountain cabin camping in the Catoctin Mountains of Maryland. The
historic stone and wood cabins were built in 1937 as part of a federal program
during the Great Depression. The cabins provided outdoor recreational
opporunties for nearby urban areas, and over 80 years later you can still
enjoy the outdoor opportunities provided by Misty Mount!

The trailhead to Catoctin Mountain Park's trail system at Wolf Rock is a short
walk from the camp. Catoctin has over 25 miles of trails with stunning
overlooks. Wildlife watching, bouldering, rock climbing and fly fishing are
popular activities along with hiking and camping.  
Kids and adults enjoy the camp's swimming pool, open from late May through
September.

Camp Misty Mount has two firewood sheds. Firewood is available for a small donation. Firewood brought in from areas outside the park is prohibited.

Camp Round Meadow, a four-season camp, includes four dormitories, dining hall,
commercial kitchen, gymnasium and conference room. The facility accommodates a
maximum of 120 people. Originally used from 1939 to 1941 by the Civilian
Conservation Corps, the camp also operated from 1965 to 1969 as the first Job
Corps Center in the United States.

of Camp Round Meadow. Fishing is available by permit within Catoctin Mountain
Park and nearby Cunningham Falls State Park. Cunningham Falls State Park,

offers swimming and boating. In the event of snow, areas throughout the park
may be used for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Pets are permitted on

Small 9 foot wooden gazebo is located outside near the front door of the dining hall.

Each dormitory is heated and  accommodates 30 overnight guests.  There are 15 single beds on each of the 2 connected wings.  Each wing has a separate room with 1 single bed.  There are a set of bathrooms for each wing and a supply closet with cleaning equipment.

Camp Round Meadow has 4 dormitories that can accommodate 30 individuals.  Each dorm is heated and includes 2 sets of bathrooms.

There are 2 individual rooms in each of the 4 dormitories.  These rooms contain a single bed with vinyl mattress, a closet, metal storage unit, small sink, wall mirror and wall mounted writing area (not visible)

The dining hall facility has air conditioning and heat.  It includes a commercial kitchen, appliances, tables, chairs, and cleaning equipment.

Each of the 3 group sites can accommodate 25 youth.  There are 2 shared pit toilet buildings, a pavilion, potable water, fire-rings and grills.  Firewood is available onsite.

Owens Creek Campground offers families and individuals enjoyable primitive
tent camping. Located just five miles from Thurmont, Maryland, in the rolling
hills of Catoctin Mountain Park.

doses of imagination while surrounded by the natural landscape. Nature hikes
and campfire circles are popular activities. The Deerfield Nature Trail
connects directly to the campground and is a 1.5 mile loop with a connection
to the park's western system of trails. Browns Farm Trail is nearby in the
Owens Creek Picnic Area and offers budding archeologists with a peek into the
history of the area. This trail is also a youth friendly 'Track Trail'. For

**Important Information on Late Cancellations**

A cancellation is considered late if it occurs **the day before or the day of
arrival**. Customers will pay a $10.00 service fee AND forfeit the first
night's use fee (not to exceed the total paid for the original reservation).
Cancellations for a one-night reservation will forfeit the entire amount paid
and will not be subject to an additional service fee.

Owens Creek Campground offers families and individuals enjoyable primitive tent camping. Located just five miles from Thurmont, Maryland, in the rolling hills of Catoctin Mountain Park. <h2>Recreation</h2>
As a primitive camping area, Owens Creek encourages visitors to use healthy doses of imagination while surrounded by the natural landscape. Nature hikes and campfire circles are popular activities.  The Deerfield Nature Trail connects directly to the campground and is a 1.5 mile loop with a connection to the park's western system of trails. Browns Farm Trail is nearby in the Owens Creek Picnic Area and offers budding archeologists with a peek into the history of the area. This trail is also a youth friendly 'Track Trail'. Each of the two comfort stations are divided and have separate facilities for women and men. Both  have toilets, sinks, mirrors and hand dryers. They are cleaned and stocked daily with hand soap and toilet paper.

Enjoy an evening program at the campground amphitheater.

Owens Creek Campground has 2 heated comfort stations with separate Men's and Women's facilities.  Amenities include flush toilets, sinks, mirrors and hand dryers.  The lower comfort station has hot showers.

Firewood is available throughout the season to reservation holders.  A requested donation of $5 per bundle assists with campground improvements.

The Adirondack Shelters, located near the northern most point of Catoctin
Mountain Park, provide a destination for true nature immersion and an
alternative to drive-up camping. A moderate three-mile uphill hike over rocky
but generally gently rolling terrain leads to the three-sided shelters similar
to those found on the Appalachian Trail. Please plan to pack out everything
you bring to the site.  
  
At Catoctin Mountain Park, the beauty and solitude of nearly 6,000 acres of
mature Eastern Hardwood Forest beckon visitors in need of an escape.

Shelters are free. However, to cover the cost of online services and the use
of recreation.gov you will incur a non-refundable fee. You will pay $8 if your
reservation is made through recreation.gov online and $10 if made at
recreation.gov’s call center, (877) 444-6777 (toll free) or (606) 515-6777
(international) 10 a.m. – 12 a.m. (Eastern Time Zone).

President Franklin D. Roosevelt created programs to give people a chance to
rebuild their lives from the Great Depression. The Works Progress
Administration and the Civilian Conservation Corps gave this land a second
opportunity and through re-growth, a new role as a recreation area.
