Very crowded campground

i know you get this most, but grass needs cut 2nd time been there this year grass not cut coming again in August hope has changed

The only complaint was the grass had not been mowed. You couldn't see where you stepped and water was standing in some sites. Otherwise it was a good trip. We plan to go back.

the staff was excellent in everyway. we arrived 1 day before our reservation and they put us at a lake front lot with no hesitation. it was awesome. we are definately going back.

Grass was high at camp sites. Cars were speeding through sites and loops. Rangers and Sheriff Deputy were making people go back to their sites at 10. Even if you were quietly walking around.

We come here every year and this is the first year we were disappointed. The grass was not mowed in loop D, e stayed almost a week and didn’t see any mowing going on. Also the beach, which is close to the campground, closed for swimming due to bacteria, but no one came to tell us that it might be unsafe to swim in the lake. They should have at least let everyone know so we could make an informed decision.

The camp host is very rude and disrespectful. She acts as if she hates her job. If she is so miserable she should leave and retire. Get rid of her.

The site and campground overall was great. Size of site was very good. Quiet hours were observed, would certainly refer this campground. The issues we had was the grass really needed cut at the site. Made hooking up utilities very challenging walking through high grass, not to mention how bad ticks are this year. Dumpsters were overflowing. We took our trash home with us so we didn’t contribute to the overflow. Lastly, too many people were walking through our site. That is not on the campground, that’s the individual that doesn’t understand respecting others. They were old enough to know better. Overall, we had a great trip, park just needs to step up with the upkeep.

Grass was knee high. Picnic table was unsafe and unusable. Host was rude and not helpful. Have been camping here for years. Last few it’s really gone down hill. Won’t be back

It’s a great time are family had fun, I really feel they should run water to all of the campsites. Other than that everything was great.

ALWAYS A GOOD TIME CAMPING AND SAFE

The campers were friendly and nice. However the park rangers we encountered were not so much. We felt harassed by them and it started from day 2. We were told several times it was quiet time even when we were not being loud and my son who was visiting was written a ticket for parking on the grass. He pulled in to check on his son who had wrecked his bike and was injured but no one took the time to ask why or what was going on. This was however his second time being told but the first time he was not parked on the grass but in a parking spot. The first time he was followed into the park to our site and was singled out and I feel this was uncalled for. Every evening were were told it was quiet time. We did reserve a site and my sister in law and her two children had stayed on the campsite for 15 days but the last week we decided to use her camper to stay and asked her to stay with us as well and she was asked to leave and we could stay. If we rented the site I don’t think we should be able to be told who can stay at our site. We don’t own a camper and her kids have been through a really rough year with losing their dad so this was a much needed break for them. There were several cars parked on the grass when my son was given the ticket and had photos of this as well. So yes we felt like we were being singled out by your rangers. Needless to say we will not be returning to Bulltown for camping.

We always enjoy coming to Bulltown. Our kids and grandkids like to kayak and swim in the lake. It’s a very family oriented campground.

At Bulltown, camping is always great and the staff is excellent! And in my experiences the facilities are always well kept.

I believe that the camping experience is going to be ruined by leaving 4 wheelers run inside camp grounds. Some had dogs inside the 4 wheeler and brought them into the no pet areas.

Would highly recommend bringing a lawnmower and a weedeater grass was extremely high.

Love the campground . Just wish they would enforce the parking rules. People were parking in the grass and on the road and was making it hard to get into your camp site. And more supervision of the kids that were running around. They would fly past the cars and run right out in front of you!

We have camped at Bulltown for several years and love it.

We loved our spot nice and clean. We were able to dock our boat close to our spot can’t wait till next year.

Level paved clean

The sites directly on the lake and wonderful - and rare for a campground. We have kayaks and enjoy swimming/floating, and being directly on the lake was perfect!

Bring your floats or kayaks! The lake is easy to access from loops c-f. Some good fishing spots over at Falls Mill. Bring plenty of snacks and firewood and leave your cell phones. It’s a great campground to get away and unplug. This is on the campers, not management, but people need to be diligent about cleaning up after their dogs. Overall, a really nice family campground!

We love Bulltown campground and have been camping here for years! The park is clean, beautiful and safe. The shower house is great for handicap people and it's nice that you have spaces for people with pets and for those that don't want to be around them. The lake is beautiful and safe for swimming, kayaking, fishing and boating. Nice playgrounds for the kids and a large picnic shelter for groups. It also has a designated swim area with a beach if you want to go there. Firewood is provided at a cost. The people are the hosts and the workers are all nice and friendly. Can't wait to go again.

We love Bulltown. Been coming there for well over 30 years. Only complaint is over the electric bikes. They are running too fast inside the campsite loops. They stopped the little kids having 12 volt riding toys which in my opinion is a lot more safer than these electric bikes and electric scooters. There does need to be signs posted No Dogs on restrooms doors unless it’s a service dog. I am a dog lover we follow the rules and pick up after them as well. Too many people are not following this rule and we have encountered dogs in the restrooms that were not very friendly. If a small child would go in alone it could have a bad ending in my opinion. The staff has always been respectful and helpful towards our family.

Camp lot was clean and really nice. Bathroom and shower house was amazing. The lady at the enterance was amazing, polite, friendly and helpful. Overall 10 out of 10.

Bulltown is one of our favorite places to camp. We were in F loop and it was wonderful.

Lake was great! But we found the tent sites in loop a a bit small and close to neighbors.all employees were incredibly kind and accommodating.

Had a water problem in loop E had to turn all the water off for the night, but they did come around and tell everyone to fill up their tanks that the water is going to be shut off for a while, Next morning they came and knocked on our door and said it was fixed.

It’s a good, family oriented campground. Not much to do in area unless you boat or fish. We like it though and come several times a year.

We have been coming to Bulltown for several years now on the same week and always have a great time. We are usually in area C but this time booked too late for our group size to be together in that area, so we ended up in area D.. and now I understand why those sites were still available even last minute. on the "entrance" side of the area is just within smelling distance of the sewage treatment plant (don't get me wrong, I know these things must be dealt with) but it was absolutely no fun having to smell that system doing its work while trying to sit around the campfire in the evening. we also missed the playground in the middle of the area (like area C has). Now for the positives, we always appreciate the Braxton county sheriffs department being present as it keeps drivers slow and aware of small children on bikes. We also love how the park service rangers are interactive with the campers and especially the kids. All of the people around us were very friendly and neighborly. Overall, this experience left us with all of the great memories that camping as a family always does. But also with the knowledge that area D is not for us.

Very clean and well maintained facilities. A great family friendly atmosphere with playgrounds nearby every campsite. We will be back.

The facility and grounds were outstanding. I was camped in an electric only site, so I needed to use the showers there. The bathrooms and shower areas were super clean, an A+ rating from me.

We were at camping site C16. It’s right beside the lake. My husband was able to fish from our camp site. The sites are pretty close to each other. But the camping area is clean, grass mowed etc. Rest rooms/showers are fairly clean. They are older. Be sure and check out the surrounding area. The beach/picnic area. And the historic site. Also there are pretty waterfalls just down the road.

Lovely campground. Very clean. Beautiful view of the lake from site C40. Easy water, electric and sewer hookups. Not far from Flatwoods, WV. Maybe 2 miles from Falls Mill overlook. Lots of hiking trails. Lake is suitable for skiing, jet skis, kayaking, canoeing, fishing and swimming. Interesting Civil War era historic area near campground entrance.
