Bellaire Lake Campground

STAGE 2 FIRE RESTRICTIONS IN EFFECT: Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(a), the following are prohibited on the National Forest System (NFS) lands in the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests and Pawnee National Grassland.
1. Building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire, campfire, charcoal barbecue, or grill, except if using a device solely fueled by liquid or gas that can be turned on and off in an area barren or cleared of all flammable materials within three feet of the device. 36 CFR § 261.52(a)
2. Smoking, except in an enclosed vehicle or building. 36 CFR § 261.52(d)
3. Welding or operating an acetylene or other torch with open flame. 36 CFR § 261.52(h)
4. Using an explosive. 36 C.F.R. § 261.52(b)
5. Possessing or using a motor vehicle off NFS roads, except when parking in an area devoid of vegetation within 10 feet of the motor vehicle. 36 CFR § 261.56.

Overview
Bellaire Campground is located 47 miles northwest of Fort Collins, Colo., near the Red Feather Lakes village. Visitors enjoy the area for its canoeing, fishing and trail opportunities.Recreation
Canoeing and fishing are popular activities on 10-acre, no-wake Bellaire Lake. Anglers cast for rainbow and brook trout, among other species. The campground is within walking distance of the lake via an accessible boardwalk. Several additional lakes are in the vicinity.Many hiking, biking and horseback riding trails are in the surrounding area, including the 1.25-mile Molly Lake Trail and 4-mile Mount Margaret Trail. Several off-road vehicle trails are located within five miles of the campground.
Other popular activities include viewing wildlife and visiting nearby Redfeather Visitor Center.
Facilities
The campground offers accessible single, double and triple family sites with electric hookups. Five additional sites are designated for tent camping and do not have hookups. Each site contains a tent pad, picnic table and campfire ring with grill.Flush toilets, vault toilets and drinking water are provided. Dead and downed firewood may be gathered in the forest or purchased from the campground host.
Natural Features
The campground is comprised of rolling hills, pine forests and unique rock formations. It sits near Bellaire Lake at an elevation of 8,600 feet. Afternoon thunderstorms can be expected during spring and summer months.Due to the mountain pine beetle infestation and the removal of hazardous trees, there may be little to no shade in the campground.

Modifications for this campground must be made through Recreation.gov or by calling the call center at 1-877-444-6777 PRIOR to your reservation start date. Customers and contact center agents cannot modify reservations on or after the check-in date.

Directions
From Fort Collins, travel north on Highway 287 for 21 miles, to Livermore.
Turn left onto Red Feather Lakes Road (County Road 74E) and travel 25 miles,
just beyond the south side of Red Feather Lakes. Turn south onto County Road
69 and continue approximately 3 miles. The campground is located on the right.

When booking, pay attention to the site fee price. Some of the sites are double sites but it's not clearly indicated. We went with another party and each booked our own site. When we got there we realized ours was a double site and we could have booked the one site and been closer. The campground host was very adamant that no refunds would be given, which was disappointing.

Bellaire is always a great camping experience. Double site 14 has lots of trees and backs up to open space. Camp hosts are always friendly and helpful. This campground does have some wind, so take that into consideration. Also, there is either a shooting range near by, or folks on the BLM land are often shooting. It can upset pups.

The campground has deteriorated over the years, needs to be freshened up with new paint and signs. Even though the campground was on a fire ban. Several sites were still burning fires. It is a lovely stay, just could use some work.

Great little campground. Bathroom facility is good. Water taps are functioning. Fish weren't biting though. Lake was a bit crowded. But overall for the price it exceeds expectations.

Good campground, wide roads in and around and many sites can accommodate longer trailers, such as my 36 ft.. 5th wheel.

We had three sites for 3 couples. Lucky for us, we could have 2 couples in 1 of the sites because #7 had a pulley to overcome to get the trailer up the hill. It just didn't look like it was going to work for us.

This was my first time camping at Olive Ridge. I found the campground well maintained. My one complaint is that many of the sites are not big enough to park your travel trailer as well as your truck. In fact, I had such a hard time parking my truck that I parked in a space right next to my site, but was given a warning to move it or risk a citation and was told I was in the “forest.“. So with the help of my friend, we squeezed in next to my camper with one of my rear wheels halfway up a large rock! My suggestion is when you come in to park your rig, don’t use the concrete parking stopper as a guide. Keep in mind that you need to move over so you have a room to park your vehicle. All all in all a great experience, bathrooms were clean, host was very cordial and helpful. Would definitely return. No hiking from the campground but trails nearby near the old Gallery in Allenspark and of course you can go into RMNP and hike.

Quiet, well maintained campground. Our site had plenty of aspen although the placement of our camper didn’t get much shade. Bear boxes were great! Wish every campground (that warrant) provided them.
Had portapotties - hopefully this is a temporary thing…not a fan, however they were okay…

I have camped all over Colorado and am an experienced mountain climber (e.g., Denali, Aconcagua, Ecuador, Nepal, etc.). Also, I have no affiliation with the campground or any related entities. I find the Bellaire Lake Campground to be beautiful and very family friendly. I would like to give a big shout out to the camp host that went above and beyond their duties in helping to recharge the battery in my son's car. The lake is well stocked with trout (though small) and has an easy hiking path that goes around the lake.

Bellaire Lake is our new find as of last year. We love it! It's small, quiet and beautiful. Great fishing and a nice walk around the lake (about 1 mile). The campsites are spacious and well kept. Also, Dowdy Lake is close by, if you want to change things up a bit. There is also the small local store that is nearby and they carry just about anything you might need. We will be returning lots!

We stayed in site 10, which is a pull through, and loved it. Very private on all sides. Across from the bathrooms, but this doesn't bother us. Would definitely stay again, really great views.

We enjoy going to Bellaire Lake campground and try to go at least twice a season. The sites are kept clean and tidy, and it is usually pretty quiet (and was on this trip as well). The only thing keeping me from a ‘5’ is the dust as people drive around, but it’s really no big deal - just that ‘5’s have paved roads. The flush toilets are a plus as well, but bring your own water if you don’t like the taste of rust.

Beautiful spot away from some of the busier places in Red Feather. Campground was well kept and offered spaced out sites (really not a bad one in the place) and flush toilets. Can’t see the lake from the campsites, but it’s only a short walk. Very quiet and peaceful stay.

This is a beautiful campground with a nice small lake. The only negative is the dust. The main road is oiled which helps tremendously, but campground is not and inconsiderate people don’t observe the speed limit. We didn’t use other than initial arrival but bathroom very clean with no smell. Overall nice campgrounds.

Double site, had great room for two tents and lots of chairs. Brought our puppy leash for the first time. The site was a short walk to the lake. Overall, relaxed and enjoyed family time.

The only criticism I have concerns the trash. When we arrived at least one of the trash stations was overwhelmed. There were trash bags piled beside and on top of the dumpsters. Trash trucks arrived the next day but this situation obviously had been going on for too long. I saw this same problem on a previous year's visit, so it isn't something new.

We had a generally good experience (again). The biggest drawback was the first 24 hours. The trash bins were overflowing - throughout the park. Trash piled up everywhere including on the ground. Seemed like animal bait & a health hazard. Luckily, the trash was removed the 2nd day of our stay. Ironically, each of the campsites had bear-proof storage that was not being used.

This is our favorite campground. We have been there twice so far this summer and have it booked 1 more time. The sites are spread out and very quiet. Fishing isn’t bad either!!!
