Arapaho Bay

Nice and clean. Trails were well marked. No water in our loop which was disappointing.

Nice sites, clean facilities, great campground hosts, water play was fun, easy access to Grand Lake and RMNP, bears very active!

There should have a notice online that the lake is down to a trickle. Especially if you booked a lake side site. There were loud campers partying until all hours of the night every night. But the host charged US $8 for having a van and a car.

Camp hosts were INCREDIBLE

Bathrooms were super clean, great campsite, lots of trees for shade. Even though we were close to neighbor campsites, we could barely hear them. Love this campsite and will definitely stay there again.

Beautiful location and wonderful camp host

We enjoyed our stay. Site 14 was nicely situated on the far end of the loop. There was enough room for our tent on the pad. The bear box was clean and functional. The picnic table was not hole. The second bench was on the table. Therefore only 1 side of the table was usable. It was a fireban, so the no fires unless you had a propane fire pit. The bear did pass through each night - there was a trashbin around the corner by the bathrooms, it would pass through 15, then on to the one by the bathroom and try to see if it could get into the trash there. Both night the neighbors saw it and scared it off or really moved it along. The ranch across the road had an event saturday night and were loud - i couldn't tell the songs, sad for me and they cut the noise at 10pm. This site has some nice trees and got a good breeze, but without an eazy up your would be shifting around the site all day to find shade. The whole camp ground doesn't get much direct sun light until after 8:30 - so bring a warm hat till the sun comes. July it was 50 or so at night, and 80s for a high by afternoon. 2 reachable bathrooms - the one to the left is more highly used, the one straight across was less used, and always was well taken care of and had air fresheners. Pleasant stay, .8 to the mortaine lake/hike, and .8 to the other hike further up the camp road. Folks to drive fast and some folks do send their screaming children on bikes around the loop with no supervision.

Love this campground and have stayed many times before but we had a less then positive few days here with little attention given to the bathrooms, folks abusing the maximum allowed people and tents at sites with the camp host not enforcing the rules, no toilet paper restocked for days, and the camp host stopping by and terrifying the kids with an exaggerated bear story/threat.

Amazing weekend here. The last morning a moose walked right next to the site and we were able to watch it walk down to and through the creek. The lake has dried up and receded significantly from this site due to the draught.

The trees have definitely grown since the photos were taken, but the site is still in full sun from morning through evening. The bugs came out briefly in the evening, but didn't stay too long. The walk to this site is one of the shorter walks from the parking spot, though a bit steep. The view of the stars was amazing! Though the water was pretty far out in the reservoir it was still an easy walk past another campsite to get down to the sandish shore.

Be bear aware and clean out your car and store items in the bear containers. Grand lake is a great spot for supplies, meals and to hang out. Lots of water activities and hiking to enjoy.

Beware of the road to the campground! Washboard and even after the county graded it while we were there, it was still bad in places.

This was a beautiful area - quiet and clean. Hosts were very nice. The only complaint I have is RECREATION.GOV FAILED TO TELL US THERE WAS NO WATER AVAILABLE at the campground and we had to drive into Granby, buy $200 worth of containers, and get them filled at the water sanitation district.

Camp host was a great guy and very helpful

It’s a lovely site with unobstructed views of the lake, which due to the drought is a half hour’s walk away. The trees provide a good bit of privacy.

The campground was great as usual, however the access road CR 6 was in such bad shape it detracted from making it a great experience. It is a shame that the road commission cannot maintain this road since it receives a lot of recreational traffic from both the campground as well as fishing and beaching. This road was also bad last year when we visited Roaring Fork. We will probably not be visiting next year due to the terrible road (CR 6).

We have been coming here for around 10 years. The camping is always fantastic. It is such a beautiful area. This year the campground host was awful. He was very aggressive with his truck. He would shout at you when speaking to you. He would block the whole road with his truck for no reason. He was unable to control loud campers. He was very rude to my son. I hope he will not be asked back. He made it and very unpleasant camping trip.

Not a fan of this campground. There's 8 miles of badly maintained washboard gravel road that will shake out your fillings. Because of current drought conditions Lake Granby was extremely low and not attractive for kayaking. Campsites are ok, but nothing special. We opted to leave after one night because the potential for damage to our rig and the desire to be closer to the water for camping.

We love this campground. This year the long road that takes you to this remote area was absolutely horrible to drive on. It was in disrepair and desperately needed to be regraded. It caused damage to both our vehicle and our camper.

The camp host, Alan, was very welcoming and helpful. For such a popular spot, it was fairly quiet. The campground and sites were clean.

This was our second trip to arapahoe bay this year. As always we had a great experience. The new camp host Alan is amazing. Alan keeps everything clean, he is so very helpful and always willing to help you out. Looking forward to another trip out this year.

Great camp area. I was here 2 years ago and it was wonderful. However the lake is so low in June already that it is about a half mile hike away now.

No firewood. We saw a moose!

Stayed in Moraine site 31. Good site but zero shade and it’s nearly on top of site 30 so if 30 has a bunch of people and you’re looking for peace and quiet, this won’t be the site for you. Good views though and quiet during quiet hours. Bathrooms very clean. When I arrived, someone was in my site but the camp host dealt with it very quickly and the squatter was on her way.

Very well maintained campground with very friendly camp host. Quiet, close to Monarch Lake and the commercial campground across the street, beautiful location and scenery.

The campgrounds were nice and clean. The water in the lake was extremely low, unfortunately. Backing in a trailer is very tight, in some sites.

I usually love coming here but this trip was a little tough. Because of the low snow drop, there was hardly any water in the bay. With little water, there were sandstorms on super windy days. Hoping for more snow this up coming winter season! Also, the campgrounds have sighted a bear in the area. I didn't see it but just a thing to be aware of.

Campground and site were great. Sadly water was very low, as it is everywhere this year. Biggest complaint is the road leading in. 50 minutes to go 8.5 miles on washboard in a Sprinter Van. Did see grating equipment on our way out. Likely won’t go back until the road improves.

The spot was advertised as having two parking spots but it was extremely tight and we were then shaken down for an additional $8 cash by the campsite host for the second vehicle, which I had though I had already paid for online.

Camp host was professional, friendly and very accommodating. Looking forward to another trip there.

The location is excellent, very close to the stream, very spacious, and the manager is very friendly. A+

We had a wonderful weekend here. The host was very kind and warned us about a bear that was recently in the area. The bathrooms were clean. The campsites are pretty close together so we heard our neighbors partying until 2am so that was frustrating. It's a beautiful area with a ton to do nearby.

Beautiful area! The water was very low when we visited, also no running water at the campsite. Great for tent camping, the family had a great time.

The staff was very accommodating. We showed up a little early and the site was clean and ready to go. Once it was our time we were allowed to set up. The restrooms were very clean. The camground host was very informative.

Great campsite, a bit isolated off the main loops and ~8’ pine trees added further privacy. The lake level was quite low, but it looks like it’s typically right up against the campground. We still had a good time exploring the lake bed. Monarch Lake is nearby along with other trails/trailheads. We drove and it was about 5 minutes from the campground. We didn’t have any bear or moose incidents, but we did get a heads up from the hosts that there had been recent incidents. The bear boxes were well maintained and fit all of our food/cooking items. The pit toilets had recently been cleaned and was fully stocked with TP.

The host was was incredibly friendly and helpful! We had no issues arriving or setting up. The site was beautiful. Great time for a first time camping.

The staff was very friendly and always around if we needed anything. They also gave us a helpful heads-up about bears and moose in the area, which we really appreciated. Dogs are required to stay on a leash at all times, which helped keep the campground safe and comfortable for everyone. The bathrooms and overall campground were very clean. We absolutely loved camping here — it was super quiet, peaceful, and relaxing. Would definitely come back!

We enjoyed the area but wished we had a campsite closer to the water. We were too far to walk to the lake and had to drive our camper to see it. So if you go, look for a site on or near the water. The drive back to the campground was a long dirt road so be ready for that.

I love this ⛺️ Place. My host was very professional and caring. Somebody left the trash/food out, which attracted bears 🐻. My host suggested for me to purchase certain items in town to protect myself. (Her words “I won’t be able to sleep till you purchase the items”) I went into town and texted her that I di have them and send a picture as well) Thanks for keeping us safe, clean facilities, clean camping-sites and the upmost respect for us campers! Its always a pleasure camping at Arapahoe Bay.

Excellent spot, but you’ll definitely need to bring some shade. It is a bit of a hike up the hill from the parking spot, but a little closer if you drive around and go up from the vault toilets. There’s another site close through the trees that was unoccupied while I was there. That site will need to walk through this site to get to vault toilets. You can hear the water through what I’ll call the spillway(couldn’t find the source but didn’t look hard). There’s a great little shop at the entrance to the campsite for wood and stuff. Great view of the bay. Overall a great site if you don’t have a lot of gear to haul up.
